The Charleston Beerfest the Lowcountry’s flagship craft-beer celebration, makes its comeback on Saturday, October 24 at Riverfront Park in North Charleston. Organized in partnership with REV Federal Credit Union the festival serves as the annual fundraiser for Palmetto Community Care a nonprofit that has provided HIV/AIDS and housing services for over three decades. Attendees can expect a sprawling outdoor venue, a lineup that eclipses previous years, and a roster of entertainment that includes the gritty blues-rock of The Stone Foxes.
Expanded brewery roster and new drinking options
This year’s event showcases a record-breaking 80 craft breweries delivering more than 200 individual pours. The selection ranges from classic American ales to experimental sours, and the festival’s interactive map—available on the official website—helps guests plot their tasting itinerary. In addition to beer, organizers have introduced a dedicated on-site liquor bar stocked with premium spirits such as Woodford Reserve bourbon, Reyka vodka, Hendrick’s gin, Milagro tequila, and Drop of Sunshine sparkling rosé, complemented by mixers from Charleston Mixers. Non-alcoholic drinks, ready-to-drink cocktails, THC-infused selections, and hard seltzers broaden the appeal for visitors who prefer alternatives to beer.
A highlight of the beverage program is the debut of Give A Sip a collaboration brewed by Frothy Beard Brewing alongside REV Federal Credit Union and the festival itself. This exclusive brew will be on tap only at the event and at Frothy Beard locations afterward, with all proceeds funneled to the UpTheGood Foundation and Palmetto Community Care. The initiative underscores the festival’s commitment to turning every pour into a tangible community benefit.
Entertainment, activities, and ticket options
Beyond the extensive drink menu, the festival offers a variety of attractions designed to keep guests engaged between tastings. The People’s Pint Belt—a fan-voted championship belt—will be awarded live to the most popular brewery. Food trucks serving regional specialties, an axe-throwing arena, and a state-of-the-art golf simulator add layers of fun. More than 30 craft vendors will also be present, offering everything from artisanal goods to festival merchandise.
Admission is tiered. General Admission tickets start at $85 and grant access to all beer stations, food vendors, and entertainment from 2:00 PM onward. VIP tickets priced at $145, include early entry, exclusive lounge areas, and complimentary access to the full liquor bar. For designated drivers, a $35 ticket provides entry to food and non-alcoholic beverage stations while remaining sober. All tickets are sold through the official site, and the event is open exclusively to guests 21 years of age and older.
“Charleston Beerfest has always been about more than great beer” explains Richard Reams, Director of Development and Marketing at Palmetto Community Care. “Every ticket sold, every pint poured, goes back to the people in our community who need it most.” The combined draw of a massive brewery lineup, diverse drink options, and a charitable cause aims to make the October 24 edition the most memorable to date.
Impact on the community
All proceeds from the festival flow directly to Palmetto Community Care supporting its mission to provide HIV/AIDS care, housing assistance, and comprehensive health services across the Lowcountry. The organization’s UpTheGood Foundation coordinates the financial contributions, ensuring that each dollar raised fuels programs for underserved populations. By tying the enjoyment of craft beverages to a clear social purpose, the event illustrates how leisure can intersect with philanthropy.
For anyone looking to combine a love of craft beer with a chance to give back, the Charleston Beerfest offers a compelling package. With its expansive brewery roster, a brand-new liquor bar, live music from The Stone Foxes, and a clear charitable focus, the festival promises a full day of flavor, fun, and forward-thinking community support.
