In 2025 the Magic Kingdom kept its crown as the world’s most visited theme park, welcoming 17.8 million guests. Attendance dipped just 0.2% from the previous year, a marginal shift that still left the park comfortably ahead of its nearest rival, Disneyland, which recorded 17.4 million visitors – an increase of 0.4%. These figures are part of a broader pattern in which all twelve Disney resorts together generated nearly 144 million visits, representing almost six out of every ten trips to the planet’s top-rated parks.
Beyond the two flagship locations, several international resorts posted notable growth. Tokyo Disneyland rose to 15.2 million guests (+0.6%), while Shanghai Disneyland almost reached the 15-million mark (+2.0%). Tokyo DisneySea and EPCOT also stayed in the global top-15, drawing 12.6 million (+1.3%) and 12.1 million (-0.2%) visitors respectively. European fans saw a resurgence at Disneyland Paris, where the park surged 5.7% to 10.8 million guests, recovering from a dip caused by the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Why Disney still dominates the global leaderboard
The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) compiled the 2025 Global Experience Index, which tallied 245.4 million visits across the 25 most popular parks worldwide. Disney’s twelve locations accounted for 143.7 million of those trips, cementing the company’s role as the leading operator with a total of 146.8 million park entries – a modest 1.1% rise over 2024. Even as Universal’s Epic Universe entered the market, pulling roughly 4 million guests in its first seven months, Disney’s foothold remained unshaken, with the new park ranking 13th in North America.
Domestic numbers reinforce this dominance. All four Walt Disney World parks stayed within the global top-15, each slipping only 0.2%: EPCOT (12.1 M), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (10.3 M), and Animal Kingdom (8.8 M). Water-park attendance also contributed, as Typhoon Lagoon logged 1.76 M guests and Blizzard Beach surged 50.5% to 1.35 M, pushing Disney World’s combined six-park total to 52.1 M visitors.
