Volleyball team’s thrilling five-set battle
The Saint Louis volleyball team put on a spectacular show against Lindenwood, fighting back from a two-set deficit to force a fifth set. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with 31 ties and 10 lead changes, showcasing the teams’ competitive spirit.
The Billikens recorded an impressive 67 kills and hit.294 for the match, with a standout performance in the third set where they hit.371. Despite their best efforts, they fell short in the fifth set, with Lindenwood claiming victory, 15-12.
Notable performances in the volleyball match
Three Billikens recorded double-digit kills, led by Tea Kalajdzic with 20 kills and a.390 hitting percentage. Tamia Maddox and Ellie Rink each contributed 15 kills, with Rink also achieving a double-double with 11 digs. Jetta Brenning recorded her 20th career double-double with 45 assists and 14 digs, just one kill shy of a triple-double.
Field hockey team’s hard-fought battle
The field hockey team put up a valiant effort against Ohio, controlling much of the game but ultimately falling short in a 2-1 loss. The Billikens had several scoring opportunities, including a career-first goal by Maddie Croghan, but were unable to secure the win.
The teams finished with 18 shots apiece, and Ohio held a narrow 12-11 advantage in penalty corners. The Billikens threatened in the waning minutes but were unable to find the equalizer, with Ohio scoring the game-winning goal late in the fourth quarter.
Ohio’s penalty corner defense
