During a rainy day in Stockholm, I sought an engaging activity and discovered the ABBA Museum, featuring an interactive exhibition on the lively history of Eurovision.

Despite my limited knowledge of ABBA and Eurovision, I decided to embrace the opportunity for new experiences. After a few hours in the museum, I emerged with a wealth of knowledge, entertained and educated by an engaging visit.

An immersive experience at the ABBA Museum

Entering the museum, I encountered numerous interactive exhibits that provided insights into the lives and careers of the iconic Swedish band. One intriguing feature was a phone accessible only to the four ABBA members. If it rings, the nearest visitor has the chance to answer and speak with one of the band members. Although my visit lacked any phone calls, the concept was certainly appealing.

Eurovision’s flamboyant flair

The Eurovision Song Contest is famous for its extravagant performances. I quickly noted that Finland’s entries have made a notable impact with their unique and sometimes outrageous acts. The amount of lycra seen in Eurovision performances likely exceeds that of several years’ worth of the Tour de France. This delightful extravagance is what makes Eurovision a cherished event throughout Europe.

While at the museum, I also encountered the first ABBA song I ever heard performed in their native Swedish. It provided a refreshing take on a classic tune, showcasing the band’s versatility and connection to their roots.

Why you should visit the ABBA Museum

If you find yourself in Stockholm, visiting the ABBA Museum is essential. The museum not only celebrates ABBA’s music and legacy but also serves as a cultural hub that highlights Eurovision’s significance in the music world.
